Commonsense Care: Parenting Gender-Confused Kids with Truth & Love
Millions of children, teenagers, and young adults are announcing transgender identities out of the blue. Parents are often pressured to accept and affirm these new identities, putting children on a path toward lifelong medicalization. Is there another way to respond? Advocates Protecting Children brings parents the Commonsense Care video series and podcast to answer that question. Erin Brewer is co-founder of Advocates Protecting Children & the Compassion Coalition; as well as (formerly) Partners for Ethical Care. She holds a PhD in instructional technology, and is a former ”trans kid” who was helped back to reality by good cognitive therapy, which is today being banned for children. She lives in Logan, Utah (USA). Maria Keffler is a co-founder of Advocates Protecting Children, and (formerly) Partners for Ethical Care and the Arlington Parent Coalition (Virginia). An author, speaker, and teacher with a background in educational psychology, Ms. Keffler has fought to support families and protect children from unethical activism and dangerous policies around sexuality and transgender ideology since 2018. Erin Brewer was assaulted by two men when she was a little girl. Her beautiful and touching book, Always Erin, recounts the healing she received because adults did not affirm the gender dysphoria that arose after the assault, but they helped her deal with and overcome her difficult feelings.

Social transition-- changing one's haircut, clothing style and name, as well as demanding a designer set of pronouns-- is often touted as harmless. But when we see nearly 100% of children who socially transition move on to medical transition, we must agree that social transition is certainly not harmless.
